Eddie has been on Staten Island his whole life and Drains R Us has run out of New Dorp for years. That is not a marketing line. It changes what a call at two in the morning actually looks like. When the address is in 10306, we are often there before a company driving in from Brooklyn has finished loading the truck.

New Dorp has a wider mix of housing than the south shore neighborhoods. Older homes closer to New Dorp Lane, a lot of postwar development around them, and a good number of two-family and converted properties. Shared and converted drain lines are their own category of problem: two households worth of use running through a line that was originally sized and installed for one.
Down toward New Dorp Beach the ground sits low. Those blocks take on water in heavy weather, and basement flooding there is a regular winter and storm-season call for us. As always, the important question is whether water came in from outside or came up through a floor drain, because only one of those is a drain problem we can permanently fix.
Then there is New Dorp Lane itself. A commercial strip with that many kitchens on it generates grease, and grease is relentless. Restaurant lines here need real maintenance rather than an emergency call mid-service.

If both units are affected the blockage is in the shared line, past the point where either apartment connects. That is one job, not two. We can camera it afterward so everyone can see what caused it.
If it is coming up through a drain, yes. That is a blocked or undersized line and it is fixable. If it is groundwater coming through the structure, pumping helps in the moment but the real answer is waterproofing, and we will say so instead of selling you repeat visits.
